The educational visit of the 4th Secondary School of Arta to the Epirus XR Center, the research facility of the Human-Computer Interaction Laboratory (HCILAB) of the Department of Computer Science and Telecommunications of the University of Ioannina, specializing in virtual and augmented reality technologies, took place with great enthusiasm on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
Around 35 students and 3 accompanying teachers actively participated in a hands-on experience that combined education, innovation and entertainment. The visit started with a brief presentation of the Epirus XR Center and its objectives, giving the students a first insight into the role that technology can play in education, research and everyday life.
This was followed by hands-on participation in selected applications of the centre, with students having the opportunity to try out:
- Virtual Reality (VR) systems,
- Augmented Reality (AR) applications,
- Driver simulator, and
- Robotic arm with haptic feedback, getting up close and personal with technologies at the cutting edge of scientific development.
The visit was an excellent opportunity for the students to get in touch with the world of interactive technology and discover new aspects of learning by doing. Epirus XR Center continues to support such initiatives, aiming to spread technological culture and inspire tomorrow's creators, scientists and citizens.
